Andy Garland Therapies - Counselling Cardiff - Mental Health Services Cardiff - Cardiff Therapists - self-help - recommended resources

In over two decades of working in mental health Andy's attended many seminars and conferences, and has been fortunate to have met some of the world's most influential and inspirational people in his field of study and work. Many of these people have written multi-million selling books on psychology and self-development.

Apart from these published authors, Andy often receives recommendations from his patients that have found help and guidance in books, articles, podcasts and websites. The clinic always keeps a record of these recommendations, and Andy actively shares them with his patients, and makes the time to look at them himself.

Some of us may look for help outside of our own resources. On many occasions Andy is told, "I'm coming to see you, so you can fix me". Of course, the fixing will only happen when a person acknowledges that ultimately they can fix themselves. Reading a book, even if it's only a few pages at a time or listening to a podcast can make a big shift in how you feel and behave.

This page is regularly updated with recommendations on old and new books, enjoyable and informative podcasts, and everything in-between. All psychology starts from the position that we already have the answers in our own lives, though sometimes we have to stop, and take a look around us. Often the guidance and 'fixing' is right there in front of you!
