Kenalog steroid injections are not a first line treatment for hay fever and should only be considered when simple measures have proven ineffective. It is recommended to try medications that are available over the counter or from your Pharmacist or General Practitioner in the first instance.
However, if these treatments fail to control the symptoms of hay fever, a Kenalog injection may be beneficial. What makes Kenalog injections unique is that oral steroids are generally only effective for less than 24 hours. Once the injection is administered the effects can last for at least 4 weeks, and for some, can cover a whole hay fever season.
Hayfever injection is a corticosteroid injection which has anti-inflammatory properties. It suppresses the immune system and stops the natural pollen response from going 'haywire'. This is the same medication given by doctors regularly for tennis elbow, various ligament and muscular strains, osteoarthritis and other joint conditions.
This can help control a wide number of disease states involving excessive inflammation, including severe allergic reactions, inflammation of the lungs in asthma and inflammation of the joints in arthritis, and a proven treatment for hay fever sufferers.
