Course Description

This course aims to develop a deeper understanding of how change and uncertainty through 'fear' can stop us from achieving great things in our lives. We will explore techniques and tools that will help to create positive outcomes in life so that we handle change and uncertainty in an effective and productive way.

Who is this course for?

The course is open to all and no prior knowledge is assumed.

Learning and Teaching

Topic 1

  • Introduction
  • What is change and uncertainty?
  • What are you afraid of and why?

Topic 2

  • Impacts of change and uncertainty
  • The levels of fear in all aspects of life

Topic 3

  • How to move through change
  • Using language to change the way you think and feel

Topic 4

  • Expanding your zone of comfort

Topic 5

  • Understanding like attracts like
  • Making informed decisions

Topic 6

  • Re-directing paths

Some topics will take longer than one week to cover. Teaching is flexible and will be responsive to the class discussion and relate to the academic process.

Coursework and Assessment

To award credits we need to have evidence of the knowledge and skills you have gained or improved. Some of this has to be in a form that can be shown to external examiners so that we can be absolutely sure that standards are met across all courses and subjects.

For this course the assessment is: Learning Journal and Presentation

The most important element of assessment is that it should enhance your learning. Our methods are designed to increase your confidence and we try very hard to devise ways of assessing you that are enjoyable and suitable for adults with busy lives.
