About Andy

Andy Garland is an experienced psychotherapist, specialising in anxiety and depressive disorders.  His work also focuses on weight management, as well as addictions and phobias.  Working closely with sexual minority groups, Andy has established a thorough grounding in this area of mental health.

He designs and delivers strategic learning packages for multi-nationals, as well as providing open courses throughout the UK, Europe, USA and Asia.  He also lectures at Cardiff University. 

With over 15 years experience in human behavioural development.  Andy is both qualified and has gained a wealth of knowledge and expertise in his field of study.

Described as a 'natural therapist', 'dynamic' and 'engaging' by the people he works with.  Andy is known for his professional friendly style.  Over 70% of Andy's clients come from personal and medical personnel referrals.

qualifications
Andy's first degree was obtained from Cardiff University, where he
graduated with a Bachelor of Education (BEd) with Honours in Adult Education and Developmental Psychology.  His connection with Cardiff University remains with his post as lecturer in the School of Social Sciences within LEARN.  He studied for his Masters degree at The University of Sheffield graduating with a Master of Science (MSc) in Psychotherapy.

He's currently reading for his PhD in Psychotherapy.  As well as his academic qualifications, Andy continues to update his skills and knowledge in his field with on-going development in the area of mental health psychology and wellbeing. 

He holds a host of post-graduate qualifications relevant to his study, including Clinical Hypnotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT).

Andy is a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), membership number: 617529.  As a registered Psychotherapist and Clinical Hypnotherapist he abides by the code of ethics and conduct outlined by these governing bodies.
